Week 6 Blog Post

I learned about post reach and post engagement a while back when I decided to switch my Instagram account from a personal account to a business one. From there you can check your analytics, demographics, reach and engagement.

Post reach is essentially the number of people who viewed or saw your post.

Post engagement is when these people engage on your post. Ways of engagement can be "liking", clicking, sharing, commenting, etc.

Knowing the difference is important because people viewing is a neutral type of interaction. People saw your post, but it maybe didn't grab their attention enough for them to want to react in any way. They simply saw it and scrolled by. Engagement means the person saw the post, and then felt moved to take another step, and become involved with your post, or, engaged with it.

Facebook insights, or insights and analytics on any social media platform, are great tools that businesses can access to understand their audience and customer base on a deeper level. Businesses can analyze this information, and use it to change or adjust their processes. You can see what kind of posts gain a bigger engagement from your followers, and which ones don't. This can help you narrow down your marketing strategies, and can allow you to connect better with your customers.
